In October 2015 the international Wesleyan family stepped out in one of the biggest moves of this century. At the meeting of the International Board of the Wesleyan Church the Korean Evangelical Holiness Church was unanimously accepted as an Associate Member General Conference of the International Wesleyan Church. The Korean Evangelical Holiness Church (KEHC) traces its roots back to the Pilgrim Holiness Church in 1904.
Today the KEHC has
- 800,000 members
- 63 countries in mission
- A desire to partner with a denomination as to assistance in education, publishing, church planting, mission, and overall accomplishing the Great Commission
Leaders from the KEHC were observers at the 2012 North American General Conference and the Wesleyan General Superintendent addressed the KEHC General Conference in South Korea in 2013. KEHC leaders have visited the US Headquarters on 3 different occasions and attended the International Conference in January 2015 to request associate membership.
Our expectation is that the Korean Evangelical Holiness Church will become a Full Member General Conference. To that end, we are pursuing this timeline:
- October 2015 – IBWC vote to receive the KEHC as Associate Member
- June 2016 – KEHC leaders invited to North American General Conference
- March 2019 – Recommendation to the International Conference to receive the KEHC as a Full Member General Conference of the ICWC (Charter 6510:2b)
